COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills

Are you looking for something to enhance you current or future professional life or just somebody wanting to understand themselves better?

You will improve your communication skills and and your ability to get the best out of others by undertaking The COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills. This course will give you new techniques and insights into yourself and other people. It can also be a stepping stone onto a Diploma Programme.

This training can also be adapted and delivered directly to organisations tailored to the needs of staff working in diverse settings, such as drugs and alcohol or older people this course can provide a solid grounding in communication skills and the practice of establishing effective relationships

All trainers employed by The Grounded Learning Partnership are accredited by COSCA or working towards accreditation.

COSCA Counselling Supervision Certificate Course

The COSCA Certificate in Counselling Supervision Course is aimed at two groups:

Those who are counselling and psychotherapy practitioners with at least 2 years’ experience who wish to become supervisors

Psychotherapy, counselling and counselling skills practitioners already working as supervisors who seek to develop their skills and understanding

Course Aims

To introduce participants to essential theoretical concepts of counselling supervision

Including: Models of supervision, Contracting, Parallel process and projective identification, Unconcious process, Ethics, Creative approches

To introduce essential supervision practice skills

To provide participants with an opportunity to practice these skills in a safe and supportive environment

To set these skills and the theory within an ethical framework

To provide a suitable foundation for possible further training in supervision

Structure of the Certificate

The course has a mix of experiential and theoretical learning processes and is person centred in its approach.  Each session will involve a mixture of skills training and practice, small group work, tutor input and large group discussion.

Part 1

12 Units delivered face-to-face over 3 weekends.

Part 2

At least twelve supervised hours working as a supervisor with not less than two supervisees and not more than four. Participants are responsible for finding their own supervisees and their own supervisor, in accordance with the COSCA criteria.

Assessment

There are both summative and formative assessments

These are:

  • 100% attendance of the training units
  • Observation of the Supervisor Essential Skills
  • A transcript of ten minutes of a supervision session with analysis and conclusion
  • A two to three thousand words case study
  • A Supervisor Report Form
  • A Supervision Log of clients seen

Further details about assessment criteria will be discussed by the trainers. Their will be an expeection that the case study, supervision report form and supervision logs will be submitted 12 months from the taught element of the course.

Course costs

The cost of the course is £650 + VAT, this cost includes course handbook and all certification costs. A payment plan is available and can be discussed with the Grounded Learning Ltd. staff
